What Happens When You Get a New Bathroom?
Having a new bathroom installed is very exciting but is also a big job and that’s why it is a good idea to know what to expect during the process. Each bathroom installer will have their own process and each job will be a little different but here are some ideas of the steps to expect to get your new bathroom.

The design stage
The design stage is the most important because this is where you work with your plumber and bathroom installer to see what you want and for them to run this against the practicalities of your space.
It is also where secondary considerations are looked at – for example, do you need a heating engineer or Gas Safe engineer to upgrade your boiler and hot water network to cope with the new demands? Water pressure and the ability of the boiler to supply the new bathroom are important considerations to have and a gas engineer is needed if you have a gas boiler to do boiler service/repair and assessment.
The work starts
Once the plan is complete, you can order the various elements needed and once they are scheduled to arrive, the work can start. The plumber will start by removing the old bathroom suite and be prepared that there will be a mess – there’s simply no way around this. Once the old suite is removed, then the plumber and electrician can look at pipework and wiring to see what needs upgrading.
If this is your only bathroom it could get a bit tricky, but tradesmen will aim to have the toilet in working order for the longest time. They should also be able to keep you with running water for much of the process. It is a good time to go into Eastbourne and do some shopping though!
Putting it all together.
The fitting of the bathroom suite doesn’t take that much work – it is all the extra elements around it that take a bit of time. Once the bath is in place, for example, the pipework is connected including the waste pipes. The same with the sink and toilet as well as any shower cubicles. Then work can start on the fitting around these such as a shower screen or cubicle, tiling on the walls and floors and other furniture going into the room.
Finishing touches
As the tiling finishes, the job is approaching completion as this is often one of the last jobs to be done. Electrical fittings are tested to make sure they are safe, and decorating can then be done. Tradesmen will then give a general clean up to make sure the room is in good condition and that everything is working perfectly.
The final inspection is down to you – once you are happy, they will class the job as done. Of course, if you have problems in the period just after this, a good bathroom installer will be happy to come back and help out. But in most cases, you will have a fantastic new bathroom to enjoy for years to come.
